The essence and power of grieving over the loss of the Holy Temple<\/h2>\n<div id=\"_mcePaste\" style=\"text-align: left;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/ish-tam.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/07\/beit_hamikdash_burning_flames.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-219\" title=\"Beit HaMikdash in flames \" src=\"http:\/\/ish-tam.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/07\/beit_hamikdash_burning_flames-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"Beit HaMikdash burning - Destruction of the Temple\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a>We are less than 2 days away from \u00a0Tisha B&#8217;av&#8212;the day of the destruction of both Temples<\/div>\n<div id=\"_mcePaste\" style=\"text-align: left;\">[and a number of other catastrophic events]&#8230;.The question that keeps coming up every year is,<\/div>\n<div id=\"_mcePaste\" style=\"text-align: left;\">&#8216;How can we mourn over something that we never have known or experienced?&#8217;<\/div>\n<div id=\"_mcePaste\" style=\"text-align: left;\">The intensity of grief that we experience over anything or over anyone that we have lost, is directly proportional\u00a0to the degree that we knew, felt, loved and were connected to that person . Therefore the challenge in the grieving process over the loss of our Holy Temples, \u00a0is to explore what it was that we had, and that we lack, now \u00a0that they are gone.<\/div>\n<div id=\"_mcePaste\" style=\"text-align: left;\">We need to understand that the the grieving that we do, serves a crucial purpose. As opposed to just grieving over the loss in order to heal ourselves and to give proper respect to that which is lost to us&#8212;-as is normally the case\u00a0in grieving, \u00a0here our purpose in grieving is to BRING BACK TO LIFE THE OBJECT OF OUR GRIEF!<\/div>\n<div id=\"_mcePaste\" style=\"text-align: left;\">With this approach, we can understand and fulfill what our Sages say, &#8221;Those who mourn for the destruction\u00a0[of Jerusalem&#8230;], merit to see her [Jerusalem&#8217;s] happiness&#8221;&#8230;&#8230;..The true mourning process is itself\u00a0right now, the catalyst, for the ultimate joy of it&#8217;s being rebuilt.<\/div>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: normal; font-size: 13px;\">YEARNING FOR THE BEIT HAMIKDASH [meditations and prayers]<\/span><\/h2>\n<h2>2. The Return Home<\/h2>\n<div id=\"_mcePaste\" style=\"text-align: left;\">Know that one of the main purposes that the Creator created the universe for, was so that He should have a &#8216;Dira B&#8217;Tachtonim&#8217;&#8211;literally a dwelling place in this lower World&#8212;-which incudes a dwelling place inside of each one of us, as well as a physical home on earth &#8221;&#8230;in the place of His choosing&#8230;&#8221;&#8212;namely Jerusalem&#8230;&#8230;.<\/div>\n<div id=\"_mcePaste\" style=\"text-align: left;\">Know that this same city of Jerusalem, even when it is not in a state of it&#8217;s \u00a0full expression, as it will be when the Holy Temple will be rebuilt and functioning, nevertheless , even now , it is the city that Hashem&#8217;s prescence is felt , more than any other city on earth&#8230;&#8230;.<\/div>\n<div id=\"_mcePaste\" style=\"text-align: left;\">As a direct result of this indwelling, Jerusalem is, was and aloways will be the central focus of our people [and of the entire world]&#8230;..Know that we pray for Jerusalem&#8217;s wellbeing in all of our fixed prayers and in our blessing after meals&#8230;.We place our yearning for Jerusalem above our highest joys&#8212;in impassioned declarations at the pinnacle of our wedding ceremonies, as well as on the walls of our homes [in the form of a corner of one of the walls \u00a0being left unpainted]&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;<\/div>\n<div id=\"_mcePaste\" style=\"text-align: left;\">We are in love with Jerusalem&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;We face it&#8217;s direction when we pray&#8230;..We yearn to be at the Kotel\/Western Wall&#8212;the Holy remnant of the outer wall of the Temple complex&#8230;.Many of us make our political choices on the basis of the candidate&#8217;s level of consideration for the wefare of Jerusalem&#8230;&#8230;.So Jerusalem is not only the &#8216;so-called Home for Hashem,&#8211;but for us as well&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;<\/div>\n<div id=\"_mcePaste\" style=\"text-align: left;\">Know that when Jerusalem is fully actualized, through having the Holy temple built up and functioning in it&#8217;s midst, at a time when our people have come back home and at a time when our Righteous Mashiach is alive and well and \u00a0fully functioning&#8212;-at that time, our people&#8217;s historical marriage with Hashem will be completely consumated and realized&#8212;&#8211;whereas in any and every historical setting where we lack this reality, we find ourselves steeped in Exile&#8212;and to the extent of our being in exile, to that extent, we are separated from our groom, our husband&#8212;our G-d&#8212;-along with all of the pain and heartache that a wife and husband feel upon being apart&#8230;&#8230;.<\/div>\n<div id=\"_mcePaste\" style=\"text-align: left;\">Know that our national return to our married partner, to our Holy Home of Jerusalem, with it&#8217;s Temple intact&#8212;-is actually a return to ourselves&#8212;-to our fully expressed status of being &#8221;A Nation of Priests&#8221;, &#8221;A Light unto the Nations&#8221;, a nation of scholars and Prophets&#8212;a nation that returns to being it&#8217;s fully glorious self.<\/div>\n<div id=\"_mcePaste\" style=\"text-align: left;\">A prayer for our return home;<\/div>\n<div id=\"_mcePaste\" style=\"text-align: left;\">Our Merciful father<\/div>\n<div id=\"_mcePaste\" style=\"text-align: left;\">We grieve for all that we have lost<\/div>\n<div id=\"_mcePaste\" style=\"text-align: left;\">We grieve, but with a grieving<\/div>\n<div id=\"_mcePaste\" style=\"text-align: left;\">that is full of trust and hope&#8212;<\/div>\n<div id=\"_mcePaste\" style=\"text-align: left;\">a trust that our grieving will be<\/div>\n<div id=\"_mcePaste\" style=\"text-align: left;\">transformed into pure joy&#8212;<\/div>\n<div id=\"_mcePaste\" style=\"text-align: left;\">a joy that comes when our prayers our answered and<\/div>\n<div id=\"_mcePaste\" style=\"text-align: left;\">our dreams are fulfilled<\/div>\n<div id=\"_mcePaste\" style=\"text-align: left;\">But most important, Hashem<\/div>\n<div id=\"_mcePaste\" style=\"text-align: left;\">We yearn for your Prescence<\/div>\n<div id=\"_mcePaste\" style=\"text-align: left;\">here on earth<\/div>\n<div id=\"_mcePaste\" style=\"text-align: left;\">in the Place that<\/div>\n<div id=\"_mcePaste\" style=\"text-align: left;\">You have chosen to Dwell<\/div>\n<div id=\"_mcePaste\" style=\"text-align: left;\">from time immemorial<\/div>\n<div id=\"_mcePaste\" style=\"text-align: left;\">Bring us all home Dear Lord,<\/div>\n<div id=\"_mcePaste\" style=\"text-align: left;\">Bring us all back home to Jerusalem<\/div>\n<div id=\"_mcePaste\" style=\"text-align: left;\">to the place that we have<\/div>\n<div id=\"_mcePaste\" style=\"text-align: left;\">never stopped loving and longing for<\/div>\n<div id=\"_mcePaste\" style=\"text-align: left;\">in every prayer<\/div>\n<div id=\"_mcePaste\" style=\"text-align: left;\">in every major event<\/div>\n<div id=\"_mcePaste\" style=\"text-align: left;\">of our lives<\/div>\n<div id=\"_mcePaste\" style=\"text-align: left;\">Return us to the Jerusalem<\/div>\n<div id=\"_mcePaste\" style=\"text-align: left;\">that shines in her full glory<\/div>\n<div id=\"_mcePaste\" style=\"text-align: left;\">to the Jerusalem of today<\/div>\n<div id=\"_mcePaste\" style=\"text-align: left;\">that is being transformed<\/div>\n<div id=\"_mcePaste\" style=\"text-align: left;\">into the ultimate Jerusalem<\/div>\n<div id=\"_mcePaste\" style=\"text-align: left;\">of tomorrow<\/div>\n<div id=\"_mcePaste\" style=\"text-align: left;\">with her Prophets<\/div>\n<div id=\"_mcePaste\" style=\"text-align: left;\">and her Scholars<\/div>\n<div id=\"_mcePaste\" style=\"text-align: left;\">and her Priests<\/div>\n<div id=\"_mcePaste\" style=\"text-align: left;\">and her Mashiach<\/div>\n<div id=\"_mcePaste\" style=\"text-align: left;\">and her Holy Temple<\/div>\n<div id=\"_mcePaste\" style=\"text-align: left;\">all shining forth<\/div>\n<div id=\"_mcePaste\" style=\"text-align: left;\">with the brightest<\/div>\n<div id=\"_mcePaste\" style=\"text-align: left;\">of Divine Light<\/div>\n<div id=\"_mcePaste\" style=\"text-align: left;\">a light that lights up<\/div>\n<div id=\"_mcePaste\" style=\"text-align: left;\">all the darknesses<\/div>\n<div id=\"_mcePaste\" style=\"text-align: left;\">of the entire world<\/div>\n<div id=\"_mcePaste\" style=\"text-align: left;\">Bring us home<\/div>\n<div id=\"_mcePaste\" style=\"text-align: left;\">our G-d and G-d of our fathers<\/div>\n<div id=\"_mcePaste\" style=\"text-align: left;\">Bring us back<\/div>\n<div id=\"_mcePaste\" style=\"text-align: left;\">to the home of our youth<\/div>\n<div id=\"_mcePaste\" style=\"text-align: left;\">bring us to a home where we know<\/div>\n<div id=\"_mcePaste\" style=\"text-align: left;\">that all that really counts is<\/div>\n<div id=\"_mcePaste\" style=\"text-align: left;\">to be with You<\/div>\n<div id=\"_mcePaste\" style=\"text-align: left;\">in all ways always<\/div>\n<div id=\"_mcePaste\" style=\"text-align: left;\">Bring us Home<\/div>\n<div id=\"_mcePaste\" style=\"text-align: left;\">to ourselves<\/div>\n<div id=\"_mcePaste\" style=\"text-align: left;\">to our fully expressed<\/div>\n<div id=\"_mcePaste\" style=\"text-align: left;\">fully blossomed<\/div>\n<div id=\"_mcePaste\" style=\"text-align: left;\">glorious selves<\/div>\n<div id=\"_mcePaste\" style=\"text-align: left;\">Open up the wellsprings of\u00a0Jerusalem<\/div>\n<div id=\"_mcePaste\" style=\"text-align: left;\">inside of our hearts and souls<\/div>\n<div id=\"_mcePaste\" style=\"text-align: left;\">for all this<\/div>\n<div id=\"_mcePaste\" style=\"text-align: left;\">and more than we\u00a0can express<\/div>\n<div id=\"_mcePaste\" style=\"text-align: left;\">we ask you, Dear G-d<\/div>\n<div id=\"_mcePaste\" style=\"text-align: left;\">to bring us home!!<\/div>\n<h2>3. The Unifying Principle<\/h2>\n<div id=\"_mcePaste\" style=\"text-align: left;\">Know that Jerusalem , even in it&#8217;s present not-yet-fully-realized-state [all the more so , in it&#8217;s realized state with the HolyTemple] is the ultimate unifier&#8230;.It&#8217;s very name indicates this&#8211;&#8216;Yerushalayim&#8217; \u00a0which comprises the 2 words , &#8216;Yire Shalem &#8216; meaning complete seeing, or the ability to hold in one&#8217;s perspective anything and it&#8217;s opposite, and everything in-between, at the same time&#8230;&#8230;The more classic etymology of the name is the City of Peace&#8212;a city representing the ideal of peace, at the same time that historically, it is one of the bloodiest, most war ravaged spots on the globe&#8212;-a classic illustration of Jerusalem&#8217;s harmony of opposites&#8230;.Similarly, it brings together many peoples of the globe as well as many outlooks of life&#8230;.Most important, it is the unifier of spirituality, infinity, eternity and Divinity&#8212;of all of these, together with their opposites&#8212;physicality, finiteness, temporality as well as the mundane&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;..<\/div>\n<div id=\"_mcePaste\" style=\"text-align: left;\">As is known Kabbalistically, that \u00a0which unifies disparate elements, is that which signifies beauty&#8212;-thus our Sages state that out of the 10 measures of beauty that have been given to the world, 9 of them were given to Jerusalem&#8230;&#8230;..<\/div>\n<div id=\"_mcePaste\" style=\"text-align: left;\">Know that Jerusalem&#8217;s [and especially the Holy Temple&#8217;s] power to harmonize and unite &#8212;-qualifies Jerusalem \u00a0to serve as the focal point of global rectification and perfection&#8212;-The Holy Temple generates and reverberates \u00a0physical and spiritual sustenance to the entire world, and alternatively, the physical and the spiritual realms are reflected in the corresponding state or level of the Holy Temple&#8230;..Thus, the 1st Temple&#8211;the Temple built by King Solomon, radiated one of the highest spiritual auras in history&#8212;with incredible levels of Proohecy and open miracles&#8211;which reflected the state or level of the Jews and the entire world at that time&#8230;..The level dropped a number of notches in the 2nd temple, and will reach it&#8217;s highest peak in the3rd Temple, never to fall again&#8230;&#8230;<\/div>\n<div id=\"_mcePaste\" style=\"text-align: left;\">Know that this great concentration of harmony, will qualify Jerusalem to serve as the Universal focus of all of mankind &#8212;as is explicitly elaborated upon in all of the writings of the Prophets&#8230;&#8230;.This Universal harmony, will bring along with it, world peace, world joy and world spiritual elevation&#8212;-where one and all will seek Hashem , to know His ways with all of their might&#8230;&#8230;.<\/div>\n<div id=\"_mcePaste\" style=\"text-align: left;\">And ultimately this world consciousness will usher in a new and very different era or world order, where no longer will people be driven to perfect themselves and all which is deficient, but rather , they will be driven to seek out Divine Unification..ie&#8230;the ability to see with ever-increasing clarity &#8212;that there is nothing else in reality, but Hashem!!<\/div>\n<div id=\"_mcePaste\" style=\"text-align: left;\">a prayer for accessing \u00a0the unification consciousness of Jerusalem<\/div>\n<div id=\"_mcePaste\" style=\"text-align: left;\">Master of the Universe<\/div>\n<div id=\"_mcePaste\" style=\"text-align: left;\">We come before You<\/div>\n<div id=\"_mcePaste\" style=\"text-align: left;\">with a broken heart<\/div>\n<div id=\"_mcePaste\" style=\"text-align: left;\">and a scattered sense of self<\/div>\n<div id=\"_mcePaste\" style=\"text-align: left;\">Please heal us<\/div>\n<div id=\"_mcePaste\" style=\"text-align: left;\">Please reunify us<\/div>\n<div id=\"_mcePaste\" style=\"text-align: left;\">Please return us<\/div>\n<div id=\"_mcePaste\" style=\"text-align: left;\">to our city\u00a0of complete &#8211; seeing\u00a0Yerushalayim,<\/div>\n<div id=\"_mcePaste\" style=\"text-align: left;\">so that we can be\u00a0whole again,<\/div>\n<div id=\"_mcePaste\" style=\"text-align: left;\">so that\u00a0we can harmonize together<\/div>\n<div id=\"_mcePaste\" style=\"text-align: left;\">all that is disconnected so that<\/div>\n<div id=\"_mcePaste\" style=\"text-align: left;\">we can attach ourselves and all that is\u00a0temporal in our lives,<\/div>\n<div id=\"_mcePaste\" style=\"text-align: left;\">all that is mediocre and stuck\u00a0and petty in our lives to<\/div>\n<div id=\"_mcePaste\" style=\"text-align: left;\">all that is infinite all that is supernatural all that is eternal<\/div>\n<div id=\"_mcePaste\" style=\"text-align: left;\">and all that is Divine<\/div>\n<div id=\"_mcePaste\" style=\"text-align: left;\">Return us to all this\u00a0through the unifying power of Jerusalem&#8212;<\/div>\n<div id=\"_mcePaste\" style=\"text-align: left;\">the upper , heavenly Jerusalem<\/div>\n<div id=\"_mcePaste\" style=\"text-align: left;\">together with the lower\u00a0earthly Jerusalem<\/div>\n<div id=\"_mcePaste\" style=\"text-align: left;\">Reveal to us the total beauty that Jerusalem contains<\/div>\n<div id=\"_mcePaste\" style=\"text-align: left;\">the essence of beauty<\/div>\n<div id=\"_mcePaste\" style=\"text-align: left;\">The beauty of The song of the Levites<\/div>\n<div id=\"_mcePaste\" style=\"text-align: left;\">Then song that melted and transformed<\/div>\n<div id=\"_mcePaste\" style=\"text-align: left;\">the hearts of all who heard it<\/div>\n<div id=\"_mcePaste\" style=\"text-align: left;\">The beauty of the Divine Service and<\/div>\n<div id=\"_mcePaste\" style=\"text-align: left;\">the wisdom and the Prophecy<\/div>\n<div id=\"_mcePaste\" style=\"text-align: left;\">that could be tangibly felt and<\/div>\n<div id=\"_mcePaste\" style=\"text-align: left;\">tasted nowhere else like in Jerusalem<\/div>\n<div id=\"_mcePaste\" style=\"text-align: left;\">Dear Creator of the Universe and<\/div>\n<div id=\"_mcePaste\" style=\"text-align: left;\">of all mankind,<\/div>\n<div id=\"_mcePaste\" style=\"text-align: left;\">Return to us the ability to live the daily<\/div>\n<div id=\"_mcePaste\" style=\"text-align: left;\">miracles of Jerusalem<\/div>\n<div id=\"_mcePaste\" style=\"text-align: left;\">and the tangible revelation of<\/div>\n<div id=\"_mcePaste\" style=\"text-align: left;\">Your Holy\u00a0Presence<\/div>\n<div id=\"_mcePaste\" style=\"text-align: left;\">Usher us into the time that<\/div>\n<div id=\"_mcePaste\" style=\"text-align: left;\">all of Your Prophets spoke about<\/div>\n<div id=\"_mcePaste\" style=\"text-align: left;\">where all people will<\/div>\n<div id=\"_mcePaste\" style=\"text-align: left;\">look to Jerusalem for their<\/div>\n<div id=\"_mcePaste\" style=\"text-align: left;\">physical and spiritual wellbeing<\/div>\n<div id=\"_mcePaste\" style=\"text-align: left;\">for it&#8217;s supernal light to banish all of their<\/div>\n<div id=\"_mcePaste\" style=\"text-align: left;\">various forms of darkness<\/div>\n<div id=\"_mcePaste\" style=\"text-align: left;\">for it&#8217;s healing to heal their bodies and souls<\/div>\n<div id=\"_mcePaste\" style=\"text-align: left;\">for it&#8217;s concentration of Divine Prescence<\/div>\n<div id=\"_mcePaste\" style=\"text-align: left;\">to serve as the focal point<\/div>\n<div id=\"_mcePaste\" style=\"text-align: left;\">of everyone&#8217;s motivation and occupation<\/div>\n<div id=\"_mcePaste\" style=\"text-align: left;\">&#8212;an occupation that will no longer<\/div>\n<div id=\"_mcePaste\" style=\"text-align: left;\">be concerned with so much with survival and money,<\/div>\n<div id=\"_mcePaste\" style=\"text-align: left;\">but rather with knowing You<\/div>\n<div id=\"_mcePaste\" style=\"text-align: left;\">and knowing that there is<\/div>\n<div id=\"_mcePaste\" style=\"text-align: left;\">nothing else besides You<\/div>\n<div id=\"_mcePaste\" style=\"text-align: left;\">May it be your will<\/div>\n<div id=\"_mcePaste\" style=\"text-align: left;\">that the words of our mouths<\/div>\n<div id=\"_mcePaste\" style=\"text-align: left;\">and the meditations of our hearts<\/div>\n<div id=\"_mcePaste\" style=\"text-align: left;\">find favor in Your eyes<\/div>\n<div id=\"_mcePaste\" style=\"text-align: left;\">our G-d,\u00a0our Rock\u00a0and our Redeemer<\/div>\n<div id=\"_mcePaste\" style=\"text-align: left;\">Amen<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: left;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/archive.constantcontact.com\/fs076\/1102527936292\/archive\/1102650317349.html\" target=\"_blank\">Great teaching on Tisha B&#8217;Av by Reb Shlomo Carlebach<\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>B&#8221;H By Kabbalist Rav Yitzchak Schwarts 1.
